Getting Started

Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Alabama?

No. Alabama allows patients to see a chiropractor directly, without a referral. Some insurance plans require one for coverage, so check your plan or call our office and we can help you find out.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, a list of current medications and supplements, and any prior imaging (X-rays, MRI or CT) on disc or as reports. If your visit is related to a car accident, bring the accident report if you have it. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete new-patient paperwork.

What happens at the first visit?

Dr. Moore takes a detailed history and performs an orthopedic and neurological examination. If imaging is clinically indicated, it may be ordered or performed in the office. He then explains his findings and recommends a care plan before any treatment begins.

Where are you located, and what are your hours?

We are at 7681 Old Shell Rd., Mobile, AL 36608. Hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00–11:30 a.m. and 3:00–6:30 p.m., and Friday 8:00–11:30 a.m. and 2:00–5:00 p.m. The office phone is answered anytime at (251) 281-8768.

Do you see patients from Baldwin County and the Eastern Shore?

Yes. Patients come from Mobile, Saraland, Chickasaw and Theodore, as well as Daphne, Fairhope, Spanish Fort, Gulf Shores and the rest of Baldwin County.

Car Accidents & Whiplash

How soon after a car accident should I be evaluated?

Ideally within the first few days, even if you feel fine. Whiplash symptoms often build over 24 to 72 hours as inflammation develops, and an early evaluation records your findings close to the time of injury.

Why do whiplash symptoms sometimes show up days later?

Stress hormones released during a collision can temporarily mask pain, and the inflammatory response in injured tissue builds over the following one to three days. Stiffness, headaches or arm symptoms may appear only after that.

Can a low-speed collision cause injury?

It can. Research has found that visible vehicle damage is not a reliable predictor of occupant injury, because bumpers designed to limit vehicle damage can still transmit force to the people inside.

Do you work with patients who have an attorney?

Yes. Our office treats patients whether or not they have legal representation, and we can coordinate medical records with an attorney's office when a patient requests it. Treatment decisions are based only on clinical findings.

Spinal Imaging

What is X-ray digitization?

X-ray digitization uses specialized software to measure how far each vertebra moves on X-rays taken while you bend forward and backward. The measurements are compared with published criteria for ligament injury and spinal instability. It is the study Dr. Moore uses most often when whiplash or spinal instability is suspected.

What is Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX)?

Digital Motion X-Ray is video fluoroscopy: it records X-ray video of the spine while you move. This shows how the vertebrae move relative to each other, which can reveal ligament instability that a standard still X-ray may not show. Our office has the only DMX in Mobile.

When is Digital Motion X-Ray recommended?

DMX is reserved for more significant spinal trauma, when Dr. Moore needs to see how the spine moves in real time. For most suspected whiplash or instability, flexion-extension X-rays with computerized digitization are used instead. Dr. Moore discusses whether either study is appropriate for you before it is performed.

Does Digital Motion X-Ray use radiation?

Yes. Like any X-ray, DMX uses ionizing radiation, so it is performed only when it is clinically indicated. Dr. Moore will explain the reasons for the study and answer your questions before it is done.

Treatment

What conditions do you treat?

Common reasons patients visit include whiplash and other car accident injuries, neck and back pain, disc herniation and sciatica, headaches related to the neck, work injuries, and tendon problems such as plantar fasciitis and tennis elbow.

What treatments do you offer?

Services include chiropractic adjustments, ArthroStim instrument-assisted adjusting, Duolith SD1 Ultra shockwave therapy, Aspen Class 4 laser therapy, computerized spinal decompression, kinesiology taping, and therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation.

Is there a gentle option if I don't want a manual adjustment?

Yes. The ArthroStim delivers a low-force adjustment without the twisting or popping of a manual adjustment. It is often used after an injury or for patients who prefer a gentler approach.

How long will my care take?

It depends on your condition and how you respond. Dr. Moore reexamines your progress at regular intervals and adjusts or ends the plan based on those findings.

Do you take insurance?

We work with most major insurance plans and accept medical payments (MedPay) coverage for auto accident patients. Cash-pay and other arrangements are available. Please call (251) 281-8768 to verify your coverage before your first visit.
